THE HALTON QUARTET -

Comprising the collective talents within two of Scotland’s most innovative and captivating duos, The Halton Quartet may be more familiar to audiences as Angus Lyon and Ruaridh Campbell, and Wingin’ It. Influenced by Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla, The European classical school, New York Jazz and Scottish tune forms – this is music with genuine heart and soul.

Angus Lyon and Ruaridh Campbell are widely accepted as one of Scotland’s most creative fiddle and accordion duos, racking up numerous accolades for their 2006 release 18 Months Later. Although now concentrating their efforts on the Halton Quartet, so recognised are the duo that, in January 2010, they appeared at Celtic Connections, in Glasgow, alongside the ten-times Grammy award winner and world-renowned vocalist, Bobby McFerrin (Don’t Worry, Be Happy).

Adam Bulley and Chas Mackenzie formed Wingin’ It in 2004, and have since been gaining credits for their dextrous, almost lyrical arrangements on mandolin and guitars. A Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections has cemented this recognition.
